Tom Saunders: Friends & Partners – Companionship & Purpose
Acts 3:1-8 & Luke 5:1-11 – The story of Peter and John and the lame man (Acts 3) is an object lesson in how the disciples learned to watch, listen and ask questions in their three year apprenticeship under Jesus after their call to give up fishing (Luke 5). They were therefore able, empowered by the Spirit, to do the same works Jesus did after he returned to his Father. Active practice of listening is crucial for both relationship and for becoming partners in kingdom purposes.
